Trees are felled in the woods, logs are cut on site at our timber yard in Hertfordshire.
Our timber is cut by chainsaw into 3 metre lengths and our specialist forwarder extracts 3 metre sawn lengths to be stacked at the roadside for haulage.
Timber is sawn down to 3m lengths purely for transportation. This is done purely to convert the timber into a manageable size to transport from the woods.
Converting the timber in haulable sizes suits transportation to our timber yard. At the yard, timber is then stacked to season then converted into logs - producing traditional logs is a 2-4 year process.
When a customer places their online order for logs, only then will we lift timber from our stockpile and process it through our firewood harvester, a heavy-duty wood processor which cuts the timber, splits it into firewood logs and loads the logs by conveyor onto our delivery vehicle. We don't remove the bark from the timber as bark is good for burning.
Years ago, logs would have been processed logs by swinging an axe but now that process is safely automated through our firewood harvester. We are able to process logs far quicker and far cheaper than ever before. Log orders placed online can be delivered in under 7 days. We don't process the wood into logs until the very last minute to ensure that the firewood we deliver remains of the highest quality.
Online ordering is the fastest way to arrange a delivery of logs by us direct to your home. We're a traditional business and we're still able to take payment upon delivery. We make our regular deliveries on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays and our deliveries are typically 7-14 days after order. If you have any questions, please do phone us on 01582 767868. Thank you.
