Phil Holt & Son is a local timber and firewood merchant based just outside of Harpenden, Hertfordshire; a firewood merchant that has been felling trees, seasoning wood and cutting logs for firewood for over 30 years.

We're an established, traditional family business and we deliver logs direct to homes throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and into Essex and north London.

Seasoned hardwood logs

We are unlike the big DIY sheds as we ourselves manage local woodlands, enabling us to produce the best hardwood logs possible. Once felled, we transport the timber to our yards in Hertfordshire where the timber is air-dried (seasoned) for 2-4 years. Once an order for logs has been placed, the timber is then cut into logs.

We believe that buying low grade firewood from the big DIY sheds or from petrol station forecourts is a waste of money - you may as well set light to pound notes in your log burner, open fire or stove instead of logs.

In 2016 Phil Holt & Son introduced larch logs into our range of log deliveries. Thanks to its ease of processing we're able to introduce larch logs as a cheaper alternative to our traditional hardwood firewood deliveries with typical savings of a little under 10%.
