We're always keen to hear what our customers have to say, especially when it comes to telling us how they're warming their home. A number of customers began to ask us about burning coal either because they were opening-up an existing fireplace or were considering buying a multi-fuel stove.

We've taken up a franchise for coal and are delighted to be able to deliver all your solid fuel requirements with a comprehensive range of pre-packed household coals and smokeless fuels.

Before choosing to burn something other than logs, it's worth noting the differences between the two solid fuels. Coal needs air to be drawn from below through a grate, whereas wood burns best when sitting on a firebox with air circulating from the top.

Customers may choose coal because it burns hotter than wood. If you're not using an open fire and a grate please check that your stove is a multi-fuel stove, able to burn wood, coal and smokeless solid fuel. It's possible to damage your log burner with the wrong solid fuel so do please check with your stove's supplier before ordering a delivery of coal.

Your local authority can tell you if you're in a smoke-free zone and should be burning smokeless fuel instead of house coal.
